No aggressive nose splitter, no shouting exhausts, no Pista extremes. The Roma is Ferrari's deliberate statement that a modern grand tourer can also be elegant. In 2020 the Roma replaced the Portofino M Convertible, not as a direct successor but as an entirely new position: a closed 2+2 Coupé with biturbo F154 BH V8 at the front, 620 hp, and an interior that broke with Ferrari convention. For the first time a Ferrari received a dual-cockpit dashboard in which driver and passenger each had their own digital screen, a design that later returned on SF90, 296 GTB and Purosangue. The name Roma refers to the Italian capital and to the "dolce vita" 1960s Ferraris such as the 250 GT 2+2. Two Roma-specific colours appear in the Maranello catalogue: Grigio Roma Metallic and Verde Roma Metallic.
Ferrari unveiled the Roma in November 2019 as a successor to the Portofino M (Convertible) and as a spiritual successor to the classic Ferrari 250 GT 2+2 from the 1960s.
