No aggressive nose splitter, no shouting exhausts, no Pista extremes. The Roma is Ferrari's deliberate statement that a modern grand tourer can also be elegant. In 2020 the Roma replaced the Portofino M Convertible, not as a direct successor but as an entirely new position: a closed 2+2 Coupé with biturbo F154 BH V8 at the front, 620 hp, and an interior that broke with Ferrari convention. For the first time a Ferrari received a dual-cockpit dashboard in which driver and passenger each had their own digital screen, a design that later returned on SF90, 296 GTB and Purosangue. The name Roma refers to the Italian capital and to the "dolce vita" 1960s Ferraris such as the 250 GT 2+2. Two Roma-specific colours appear in the Maranello catalogue: Grigio Roma Metallic and Verde Roma Metallic.
Ferrari unveiled the Roma in November 2019 as a successor to the Portofino M (Convertible) and as a spiritual successor to the classic Ferrari 250 GT 2+2 from the 1960s. The name Roma refers to the city of Rome (where Ferrari has a substantial historic clientele) and to the dolce vita culture that Ferrari represented in the 1960s. For collectors the Roma represents the return of the classic Ferrari 2+2 GT culture: closed 2+2 Coupé, front engine, rear-wheel drive, elegant grand tourer specification without extravagant aerodynamics.
The Roma has biturbo 3.9-litre F154 BH V8, shared with the Portofino M but further developed for the Roma. The package includes newer turbos (lighter turbo rotors for faster boost response), Particulate Filter (mandatory for European emission standards, reduces emissions substantially), improved exhaust specification, and refined sound mapping. The result: 620 hp and 760 Nm of torque. The acceleration from 0-100 km/h is 3.4 seconds; the top speed is 320 km/h. For collectors F154 BH condition is substantially value-driving.
The Roma introduces Ferrari's new interior design language: dual-cockpit, where driver and passenger each have a own digital display (driver 16-inch HD display, passenger 8.8-inch HD display). The dual-cockpit design was first introduced in the Roma and has since been further developed for other Ferrari models (SF90, 296 GTB, Purosangue). For collectors the Roma represents the first Ferrari with dual-cockpit design. Additionally Frau leather upholstery (Frau is Ferrari's long-term leather supplier) and unique Roma steering wheel with haptic control (first Ferrari with fully haptic steering wheel buttons).
Ferrari delivered the Roma with extensive Tailor Made programme for unique specifications. Tailor Made elements include: unique paint colours (Verde British Racing, Azzurro Roma, Avorio Beige, Rosso Maranello), unique Frau leather colours, contrast stitching, unique interior panels, metal detailing, unique wheel design, and Roma-specific exterior detailing. For collectors Tailor Made specifications are substantially value-adding. Confirmation via Ferrari Maranello certification is essential.
Since production start in 2020 the Roma has seen a substantially stable appreciation curve. Regular Roma specifications sit price-stable at the level of Ferrari Maranello price list; Tailor Made specifications are substantially higher priced. Roma-specific colours (Grigio Roma, Verde Roma) are generally value-adding. For sellers this means a well-documented Roma with proven service history at Ferrari Maranello or recognised specialist, original original specification, Tailor Made confirmation (where applicable), and Power Warranty transfer attracts strong international interest.
The Roma has biturbo 3.9-litre F154 BH V8 with 620 hp and 760 Nm. Shared with the Portofino M and further developed for the Roma (newer turbos, Particulate Filter, improved exhaust specification). For collectors, turbo condition, F154 BH status, and F1 DCT mechatronics service are essential.
The Roma is available in regular colours (Rosso Corsa, Giallo Modena, Nero Daytona, Argento Nürburgring) and Tailor Made specifications. The F154 BH V8 (biturbo 3.9-litre, 620 hp) shares architecture with the Portofino M and partly with the 488/F8, further developed for the Roma with Particulate Filter and improved exhaust. For collectors, turbo condition, Particulate Filter status, boost pressure status, and diagnostic report are essential.
For Roma collectors factory original interior in original specification is essential. Dual-cockpit specification (new Ferrari design language with passenger-side digital display), digital instrument panel, Frau leather upholstery, and unique Roma steering wheel. For collectors factory original interior elements in good condition are essential.
Ferrari Maranello-recognised service is essential. For Roma: turbo condition of F154 BH V8, Particulate Filter status, F1 DCT mechatronics service, Carbon Ceramic Brake status (option), Power Warranty status, and diagnostic report.
For Roma collectors low-to-moderate mileage (under 25,000 for 2020-2022 model year, under 15,000 for 2023-present) with full service history is more attractive. For Tailor Made specifications low mileage is substantially value-driving; for regular Roma specifications an average use with proven service is acceptable.
Note: These factors may influence buyer interest. Value depends on many factors.
