What is Octane?
Octane started with a simple problem: selling an enthusiast car felt either expensive (trade-in) or stressful and uncertain (online classifieds). So we built Octane: an online auction platform that gives you fast clarity, reaches buyers who truly understand the car, and includes an open community that follows along and joins the conversation. Every car gets a strong presentation and a carefully crafted campaign, so we reach buyers you often wouldn't reach through traditional platforms.
Our story
We grew up around cars. Not as a casual interest, but as something you can obsess over: specs, history, tiny details only enthusiasts notice. That passion never left, and it's exactly what made us notice how exciting yet uncertain it can feel to sell an enthusiast car.
When we started thinking about Octane in 2022, it wasn't because the world needed "another platform." It came from a frustration many enthusiasts recognize. When you try to sell a special car, you usually end up at two extremes: trade-in (fast and easy, but you often lose value), or online classifieds (more control, but also more hassle and risk).
We wanted a better option for enthusiasts: a place where the car is taken seriously, where the story and presentation are right, and where you get clarity fast, without months of messages, negotiations, and uncommitted buyers.
So in 2023 we started building Octane: a 7-day auction format designed to create focus. In one week, everything comes together: the right audience, a transparent bidding process, and a clear end moment. That makes selling faster, fairer, and often more enjoyable — for both sellers and buyers.
But from day one, we knew Octane had to be more than buying and selling. Cars bring people together. That's why we're building Octane as an open community: a place where anyone can follow along and join the conversation, where knowledge sharing is central, and where we'll eventually connect offline through meetups and events.
In short: Octane exists to sell enthusiast cars better — and to build a stronger car community in the Netherlands.

With Octane, we're building more than an auction platform.
