For seventy-three years Ferrari refused to build an SUV. Then, in September 2022, Maranello unveiled the Purosangue, Italian for "thoroughbred", a reference to equine genetics. It is Ferrari's first four-door production car in the marque's history, arriving two decades after the Porsche Cayenne, Lamborghini Urus and Aston Martin DBX. Ferrari explicitly limits production to a maximum of 20% of total annual volume to protect SUV exclusivity; the waiting list runs to 2027-2028. Under the bonnet: a 6.5-litre naturally aspirated V12 (the F140 IA, shared with the 812 Superfast) producing 725 hp, striking for an SUV when Porsche, Lamborghini and Aston Martin offer turbo or hybrid drivetrains as standard in this segment. Two innovations are Ferrari firsts: 4RM Evo all-wheel drive with a separate two-speed front gearbox (no mechanical link between front and rear above 200 km/h), and FAST active dampers with an individual electric motor per wheel.
Ferrari unveiled the Purosangue in September 2022 and started production in 2023. It is a substantially historic turning point for Ferrari: until the Purosangue Ferrari had never built a four-door SUV or four-door regular production specification. The competitors such as Lamborghini Urus, Aston Martin DBX, Bentley Bentayga, and Rolls-Royce Cullinan had already introduced their SUVs; Ferrari followed late but deliberately. The name Purosangue is Italian for thoroughbred, a reference to horse genetics (Ferrari is based in Maranello, home of Italian horse tradition). For collectors the Purosangue represents the new Ferrari SUV culture.
The Purosangue has naturally aspirated 6.5-litre F140 IA V12, shared with the 812 Superfast and 812 Competizione but further developed for the Purosangue. The package includes 725 hp and 716 Nm of torque. The VANOS variable valve timing, individual throttle bodies per cylinder, and redline of 8,250 rpm are retained. For collectors the F140 IA V12 in the Purosangue represents the last regular production Ferrari with naturally aspirated V12 engine (all newer models use turbocharged or PHEV architecture). This makes the Purosangue substantially collector class worthy.
The Purosangue has Ferrari's unique 4RM Evo all-wheel drive system. The system consists of eight-speed F1 DCT gearbox on the rear axle (standard Ferrari specification) and two-speed gearbox on the front (unique Ferrari specification, first used in FF and GTC4 Lusso, further developed for Purosangue). The 4RM Evo specification makes all-wheel drive functional only below 200 km/h; above 200 km/h the Purosangue is exclusively rear-wheel driven. For collectors and modern Ferrari driving the 4RM Evo architecture represents Ferrari's unique approach to all-wheel drive.
The Purosangue introduced Ferrari's first active suspension system: Ferrari Active Suspension Technology (FAST). The system has individually controlled dampers per wheel (Multimatic active dampers with electric motor per wheel) that can individually extend, shorten, and damp. The system enables SUV ride height on motorway (standard 185 mm ground clearance) and lowered ride height in sport mode (-10 mm). For collectors FAST represents a substantial technical innovation within Ferrari's regular production line.
Since production start in 2023 the Purosangue has seen a substantially strong initial appreciation curve. Ferrari limits production to maximum 20% of total Ferrari production numbers to maintain SUV exclusivity, which creates scarcity and value-adding positioning. Well-documented Purosangue specifications in original specification sit consistently in a strong segment; Tailor Made specifications and Purosangue-specific colours are in the highest price tier. For sellers this means a well-documented Purosangue with proven service history at Ferrari Maranello or recognised specialist, original original specification, Tailor Made confirmation (where applicable), Power Warranty transfer, and Ferrari Classiche certification attracts strong international interest.
The Purosangue started production in 2023, Ferrari limited production to maximum 20% of total Ferrari production numbers (deliberate positioning to maintain SUV exclusivity). For collectors confirmation of model year (2023, 2024, or later), production batch via factory chassis number, and market version is essential. Request Ferrari Classiche certification.
The Purosangue is available in regular colours (Rosso Corsa, Giallo Modena, Nero Daytona, Argento Nürburgring), Purosangue-specific colours (Verde Selena Metallic, Marrone Apollo Metallic, Grigio Alloy Metallic), and Tailor Made specifications. For collectors Tailor Made specifications are substantially value-adding.
The Purosangue has naturally aspirated 6.5-litre F140 IA V12 (shared with 812 Superfast and 812 Competizione, further developed for Purosangue) with 725 hp and 716 Nm. For collectors F140 IA condition is substantially value-driving. Document VANOS service, oil consumption status, timing chain condition, and diagnostic report.
The Purosangue has unique 4RM Evo all-wheel drive system with eight-speed F1 DCT gearbox rear and two-speed gearbox front (Ferrari's first all-wheel drive system with two-speed gearbox front). For collectors, 4RM Evo diagnostics, two-speed gearbox front service, and transmission oil condition are essential.
The Purosangue has Ferrari Active Suspension Technology (FAST) - Ferrari's first active suspension system with individually controlled dampers per wheel. The system enables SUV ride height on motorway and lowered ride height in sport mode. For collectors, active suspension system service and diagnostic report are essential.
For Purosangue Tailor Made examples document order history via Ferrari Maranello, Tailor Made elements (unique paint colour, unique interior specification, unique wheels specific), Tailor Made certification, and documentation. For collectors Tailor Made confirmation is substantially value-adding.
For Purosangue collectors low-to-moderate mileage (under 15,000 for 2023 model year, under 8,000 for 2024-present) with full service history is more attractive. For Tailor Made specifications and Purosangue-specific colours low mileage is substantially value-driving.
Note: These factors may influence buyer interest. Value depends on many factors.
Purosangue (2023-present) four-door SUV with F140 IA V12. Model year (2023, 2024, or later), chassis number, engine number, and market version. For collectors production batch confirmation via factory chassis number is essential.
For Purosangue Ferrari Maranello-recognised documentation is substantially value-adding. Request Ferrari Classiche certification via Ferrari Maranello or via local Ferrari dealer. Confirms original specification, packages, and Tailor Made specification (where applicable).
All invoices from Ferrari Maranello or recognised specialist. For Purosangue: F140 IA V12 service (VANOS, oil consumption status, timing chain condition), F1 DCT mechatronics service, 4RM Evo diagnostics (two-speed gearbox front), FAST active suspension service, Carbon Ceramic Brake status, and Power Warranty status.
The F140 IA V12 (naturally aspirated, 725 hp) is shared with 812 Superfast and 812 Competizione, further developed for Purosangue. Document VANOS service, oil consumption status, timing chain condition, individual throttle bodies, and redline test (up to 8,250 rpm).
The Purosangue has unique 4RM Evo all-wheel drive and FAST active suspension system. Document 4RM Evo diagnostics (two-speed gearbox front condition), FAST system service (individually controlled dampers per wheel, Multimatic electric motors), and diagnostic report.
Paint colour with Ferrari factory code: regular colours or Purosangue-specific colours (Verde Selena Metallic, Marrone Apollo Metallic, Grigio Alloy Metallic) or Tailor Made specification. For Tailor Made document unique elements with Ferrari certification.
Number of previous owners, mileage, market version, model year (2023 or 2024-present), any Tailor Made specification, Power Warranty transfer, and geographic distribution. For collectors: low mileage (under 15,000 for 2023, under 8,000 for 2024-present) is substantially value-driving.
