The LaFerrari is the only one of the three Holy Trinity hybrid hypercars with a naturally aspirated V12, and the first Ferrari road car with a hybrid powertrain. The F140 FE V12 of 6,262 cc produces 800 hp and is paired with a HY-KERS electric motor of 163 hp, for a combined system output of 963 hp. The Coupé left the factory between 2013 and 2016 in 499 examples; the open-top Aperta followed in 210 examples between 2016 and 2018, the final unit of which was auctioned at Fiorano in September 2017 for 8.3 million euros for Save the Children. Coupé and Aperta were both allocated primarily by invitation to existing Ferrari clients.
The LaFerrari closes the Big Five (288 GTO 1984-1987, 272 cars; F40 1987-1992, 1,311 cars; F50 1995-1997, 349 cars; Enzo 2002-2005, 400 cars; LaFerrari Coupé 2013-2016, 499 cars plus Aperta 2016-2018, 210 cars). Coupé and Aperta trade separately; in demand and price the Aperta sits structurally higher due to its more limited run and open configuration. For the Coupé, a verified build year within the 499-car series matters as much as specification, including the visible carbon-fibre roof detail that according to auction documentation was fitted to roughly 50 of the 499 examples.
The LaFerrari debuted in 2013 as Ferrari's entry in the Holy Trinity, the three hybrid hypercars presented within a single year: Porsche 918 Spyder, McLaren P1 and LaFerrari. Of the three, the LaFerrari is the only one with a naturally aspirated V12; the P1 uses a twin-turbo V8 and the 918 a naturally aspirated V8. The HY-KERS technology in the LaFerrari laid the foundation for later Ferrari hybrid models including the SF90 Stradale and the 296 GTB.
The HY-KERS high-voltage battery is the dominant service theme for the LaFerrari. Ferrari advises owners not to leave the car standing for more than around five days without driving or charging, to prevent battery damage. A documented recent battery replacement or a current battery-condition report is a strong value argument at sale. The F140 FE V12 itself requires standard Ferrari service from a workshop experienced with the hybrid powertrain.
The LaFerrari Coupé (499 examples, 2013-2016) and the LaFerrari Aperta (210 examples, 2016-2018) are valued separately. The Aperta has the open configuration with removable carbon hardtop or soft roof, swan doors and a revised cooling system. Specify which variant and, if Aperta, the roof configuration.
The HY-KERS high-voltage battery is a central verification point for the LaFerrari market. Recent replacement or a current battery-condition report gives buyers confidence. Ferrari advises not to leave the car standing unused for more than around five days; documentation of the storage regime is relevant for the listing.
The full hybrid system including inverter and cooling requires specialist service. A complete invoice history from Ferrari or a recognised specialist with hybrid experience is an important value factor for every example.
Alongside the hybrid system, the F140 FE V12 requires standard Ferrari service. Buyers expect a complete invoice history via Ferrari or a recognised workshop with hybrid experience. Unknown or untraceable service is a point of attention.
Within the Coupé programme, according to auction documentation around 50 of the 499 examples were delivered with a visible carbon-fibre roof. Ferrari also offered unique colour combinations and interior configurations through the Extra Campionario programme. The exact specification can be distinguishing within the international market.
Ferrari delivered Coupé and Aperta primarily by invitation to existing clients. Unbroken ownership history and the original delivery invoice strengthen the car's market position.
Mileage on a LaFerrari should always be read in the context of the use pattern. The HV battery requires active use and periodic charging; cars with prolonged inactivity without maintenance of the charging schedule require additional technical assessment before sale.
Note: These factors may influence buyer interest. Value depends on many factors.
Send us a short description with chassis number, variant (Coupé or Aperta), engine number, original colour and mileage. We assess free of charge whether an auction is appropriate at this time and which approach can deliver the best outcome for your situation.
Registration document, original invoice, build sheet, owner's pack, COC and complete service books. For the LaFerrari specifically: documentation of HV battery service and any replacement, HY-KERS inspections and Ferrari service network history.
Check whether the car has unbroken history in the official Ferrari service network or with a recognised specialist with hybrid experience. For the LaFerrari, a traceable digital service history is an important value factor. An interrupted or out-of-network history requires detailed explanation.
Request a current report on the condition of the HV battery, the HY-KERS system, the inverter and the associated sensors. For the listing, a dated report by Ferrari or a recognised hybrid specialist is essential; recent battery replacement is a strong selling argument.
We coordinate professional imagery for the campaign, including detail shots of the interior configuration and, for the Aperta, the roof in both configurations. You reserve time for a shoot at a location of your choice; the car stays with you and does not need to be transported.
Based on the specific characteristics of your LaFerrari and international reference sales (RM Sotheby's, Sotheby's, Bonhams) we propose a reserve price. It remains confidential and is only fixed once you have agreed.
When the reserve is met, the sale is binding to the highest bidder. Octane connects buyer and seller to complete the transaction. Payment can run directly or, on request, via a third-party account. For international buyers we can refer you to partners for export and registration administration.
