The Ferrari 360 is the mid-engine V8 Berlinetta from the early 2000s, built in 1999-2005 with a production of around 17,500 cars (360 Modena Coupé + 360 Spider + 360 Challenge Stradale limited specification). The name 360 refers to 3.6 litre displacement. It is the successor to the F355 (1994-1999) and predecessor of the F430 (2004-2009). The package includes naturally aspirated 3.6-litre F131 V8 with 400 hp, manual six-speed gearbox (or F1 electro-hydraulic gearbox), exclusively rear-wheel drive, and mid-rear engine position. For collectors the 360 represents Ferrari's first regular production V8 Berlinetta with fully aluminium chassis architecture, digital instrumentation, and paddle-shifted F1 gearbox in regular production specification. A Ferrari 360 is not sold to just any buyer; it is passed on to someone who knows the Ferrari V8 culture.
Ferrari unveiled the 360 Modena in 1999 as the successor to the F355 (1994-1999). The name 360 refers to 3.6 litre displacement; the Modena designation refers to Ferrari's home culture in Maranello, Modena, Italy. The 360 represents Ferrari's first regular production V8 Berlinetta with fully aluminium chassis architecture (in contrast to steel chassis in F355 and earlier V8 Berlinettas). The Pininfarina design was evolution of the F355 shaping with larger air intakes, glass engine cover, and Ferrari-modern design elements. For collectors the 360 represents Ferrari's transition to modern V8 Berlinetta architecture.
The central technical point of the 360 is the naturally aspirated 3.6-litre F131 V8 with five valves per cylinder (further developed from F129 in F355). The result: 400 hp and 373 Nm of torque, redline 8,500 rpm. The F131 is Ferrari's last regular production V8 with five-valve head (F136 in F430, 458, and afterwards has four-valve head). For collectors the F131 in the 360 represents Ferrari's last five-valve V8 specification.
In 2000 Ferrari introduced the 360 Spider - open Convertible specification with electric soft-top (not targa specification like 308 GTS / F355 GTS, but fully open Convertible). The system opens or closes in 20 seconds. For collectors the 360 Spider is popular due to open driving experience. The 360 Spider was produced in 2000-2005, alongside the 360 Modena Coupé.
In 2003 Ferrari unveiled the 360 Challenge Stradale - limited hardcore specification of the 360 (around 1,288 cars worldwide). The name Challenge Stradale refers to the Ferrari 360 Challenge race specification (official Ferrari one-make racing series) combined with Stradale (Italian street). The package includes further developed F131 V8 at 425 hp (25 hp more than 360 Modena), lighter chassis (around 110 kg weight saving), stripped interior (two bucket seats, minimalist interior panels), lighter wheels, Brembo carbon-ceramic brakes standard, and CFRP elements (carbon bonnet, carbon interior panels). For collectors the Challenge Stradale represents Ferrari's hardcore specification of the 360.
The 360 has seen a substantially stable appreciation curve since 2018. Well-documented 360 Modena and Spider examples in original specification sit in a strong segment for modern classic Ferraris. Manual 360s are substantially higher priced than F1 gearbox specifications. 360 Challenge Stradale is in a substantially higher price tier due to scarcity and hardcore equipment. For sellers this means a well-documented 360 with proven service history at Ferrari Classiche or recognised Ferrari specialist, original original specification, and timing belt replacement documented attracts strong international interest.
360 Modena Coupé (1999-2005), 360 Spider (2000-2005, open Convertible with electric soft-top), or 360 Challenge Stradale (2003-2004, limited hardcore specification, around 1,288 cars worldwide). Gearbox: manual six-speed gearbox or F1 electro-hydraulic gearbox.
The 360 is available in classic Ferrari colours: Rosso Corsa (signature, around 50% of production), Giallo Modena, Nero Daytona, Argento Nürburgring, Bianco Polo, Blu Pozzi, Verde British Racing, and Grigio Titanio. For collectors non-red 360 specifications are substantially value-adding.
The F131 V8 (naturally aspirated, 3.6 litres, 400 hp, redline 8,500 rpm) is further developed from the F129 (in F355) with increased displacement and improved power. For collectors, F131 condition, timing belt status (replaced every 30,000-50,000 km, essential), and oil consumption status are essential.
The 360 Challenge Stradale (2003-2004) is the limited hardcore specification of the 360, built in around 1,288 cars worldwide. The package includes further developed F131 V8 at 425 hp (25 hp more), lighter chassis (around 110 kg weight saving), stripped interior, lighter wheels, Brembo carbon-ceramic brakes standard, and CFRP elements (carbon bonnet, carbon interior panels).
The 360 is available with manual six-speed gearbox (gated shifter, classic Ferrari driving experience) or F1 electro-hydraulic paddle-shifted gearbox. For collectors manual is generally substantially higher priced. Manual 360s have become substantially scarcer in the modern market.
Ferrari Classiche-recognised service is essential. For 360: F131 V8 service (timing belt replacement every 30,000-50,000 km, valve clearance, oil consumption status), manual transmission service (or F1 gearbox service), fuel injection system service, electrical system condition, and historic service documentation.
For 360 collectors low-to-moderate mileage (under 100,000 for regular 360 Modena/Spider, under 50,000 for Challenge Stradale) with full service history is more attractive. For Challenge Stradale and manual 360s low mileage is substantially value-driving.
Note: These factors may influence buyer interest. Value depends on many factors.
360 Modena Coupé (1999-2005), 360 Spider (2000-2005), or 360 Challenge Stradale (2003-2004, limited). Gearbox: manual six-speed gearbox or F1 gearbox. Model year, chassis number, engine number, and market version.
For 360 Ferrari Classiche certification is value-adding, particularly for Challenge Stradale and non-red specifications. Apply via Ferrari Maranello via Ferrari Classiche form. Confirms factory chassis number, factory engine number, production date, and 360-specific specification.
All invoices from Ferrari Classiche or recognised Ferrari specialist. For 360: F131 V8 service (timing belt replacement every 30,000-50,000 km, valve clearance, oil consumption status), manual transmission service (or F1 gearbox service), fuel injection service, electrical system condition.
The F131 V8 has timing belt replacement every 30,000-50,000 km (essential to prevent engine destruction). For collectors proof of timing belt replacement history is substantially value-adding. Document timing belt replacement invoices.
For 360 Challenge Stradale: document F131 V8 at 425 hp, lighter chassis (around 110 kg weight saving), stripped interior, Brembo carbon-ceramic brake status, CFRP elements (carbon bonnet, carbon interior panels), and Ferrari Classiche certification.
Paint colour with Ferrari factory code: Rosso Corsa, Giallo Modena, Nero Daytona, Argento Nürburgring, Bianco Polo, Blu Pozzi, Verde British Racing, or Grigio Titanio. For collectors non-red specifications are substantially value-adding. Interior (Connolly leather, Daytona seats or bucket seats).
Number of previous owners, mileage, market version, model year (1999-2005), specification (Modena, Spider, or Challenge Stradale), and gearbox. For collectors: low mileage is substantially value-driving, particularly for manual specifications and Challenge Stradale.
