Direct sale
Sell your car directly, without the hassle
No listings, no endless hassle, no weeks of waiting. Submit your car and we put it in front of dealers from our network. If there is interest you receive a non-binding offer, and you decide.
How it works
From submission to offer in four steps
Submit
Fill in the form with your car’s details and add 3 to 10 photos. With photos you get a faster and usually better offer.
We present it
We share your car with dealers from our network whose buying profile fits.
You receive an offer
If there is interest you receive a non-binding offer. No interest? We tell you that too, and you are not tied to anything.
Settle directly
If you accept, you complete the sale directly with the dealer: payment, deregistration and handover.
Sell directly, or auction after all?
Honestly: speed costs proceeds. A dealer buys to resell and therefore offers a trade price. For a special car with enthusiast appeal an auction usually yields more; a direct sale wins on speed and convenience.
Special car and one to two weeks of time?
Auction it through Octane: enthusiasts in twelve Western European countries bid against each other for seven days, you pay no seller commission and agree a reserve upfront.

Then a direct sale is the pragmatic route: one submission, a non-binding trade offer and done within days, without listings or endless back-and-forth.

Frequently asked questions
What does a direct sale through Octane cost?
Nothing. Submitting is free and the offer is non-binding. The dealer pays Octane a fee if a purchase happens; you receive the full agreed amount.
How quickly will I hear something?
After submission we present your car to suitable dealers and contact you as soon as there is interest. We make no promises about timelines: if there is no interest, we tell you that honestly.
What kind of offer can I expect?
A trade offer: the dealer buys to resell and calculates with margin, reconditioning and risk. That usually sits below private market value. If you want market value, consider an auction.
Will the dealer want to see the car first?
For a first offer the photos are usually enough. For the final purchase the dealer may want to see or inspect the car; you arrange that between you when completing the sale.
What happens with my details?
We use your details for this request only. Your car’s details are shared with dealers from our network; your contact details only with the dealer that is actually interested.
Can I also just auction, or do both?
Auctioning is always possible: submit your car via Sell your car. Both at once is not: during a live auction you offer the car exclusively through Octane. If your car does not suit an auction, we often suggest the direct route ourselves.
