In May 2024 Ferrari broke with the naming convention it had used since 1999 for V12 Berlinettas. No "612", no "F-something", no number combination referring to displacement and cylinders. Simply: 12Cilindri. Twelve cylinders. The name pays tribute to classic Ferrari V12 models from the 1960s and 1970s, 250 GT, 365 GTB/4 Daytona, 599, where the model designation referred more directly to the engine configuration. Beneath the modern body sits the F140 HD V12: 830 hp from 6.5 litres, redline at 9,500 rpm, identical output to the 812 Competizione. What is unique are the two active rear spoilers, separated left and right of the rear window, which can individually tilt up to generate downforce at speed and disappear flat for a clean low-speed silhouette. The 12Cilindri is Ferrari's last regular production V12 without hybrid assistance at a time when every other V12 from Maranello (296, SF90) has moved to PHEV architecture.
Ferrari unveiled the 12Cilindri in May 2024 as a successor to the 812 Superfast (2017-2022) and 812 GTS (2019-2022). The name 12Cilindri is Italian for twelve cylinders and is a substantially significant naming change: for the first time since Ferrari 360 (1999) Ferrari uses the name not as numerical reference (such as 812, 488, F8) but as descriptive designation to the central technical feature. For collectors the 12Cilindri represents Ferrari's return to classic V12 naming that Ferrari used in the 1960s and 1970s (250 GT, 365 GTB/4 Daytona).
The central technical point of the 12Cilindri is the naturally aspirated 6.5-litre F140 HD V12 with 830 hp and 678 Nm. The F140 HD is further developed from the F140 IA (in 812 Superfast 800 hp and 812 Competizione 830 hp and Purosangue 725 hp). For the 12Cilindri Ferrari has redline raised to 9,500 rpm, lighter pistons, refined exhaust specification, and 12Cilindri-specific software mapping. For collectors the F140 HD V12 in the 12Cilindri represents Ferrari's last regular production V12 without PHEV or turbocharging - pure naturally aspirated V12 culture in an era of electrification.
The 12Cilindri introduces Ferrari's unique two active rear spoilers - separated spoilers left and right of the rear window that can individually move up or down to optimise downforce at different speeds. The system is electrically driven and hides the spoilers in low-speed configuration for clean design. In high-speed configuration the spoilers shift to generate downforce. For collectors active aerodynamics represents a substantial technical innovation within Ferrari's regular production line.
The 12Cilindri has dual-cockpit interior (Ferrari design language since 2020 Roma) with 15.6-inch HD display for driver and 10.2-inch HD display for passenger. For collectors the 12Cilindri represents the refined dual-cockpit specification in a classic V12 Berlinetta context. The 12Cilindri is positioned as Ferrari's regular production V12 Berlinetta with front engine and rear-wheel drive, parallel to the Roma (V8 2+2 GT) and positioned above the 296 GTB (V6 PHEV) in power categorisation.
Since production start in 2024 the 12Cilindri has seen a substantially strong initial appreciation curve. Regular 12Cilindri specifications are price-stable at the level of Ferrari Maranello price list; Tailor Made specifications are substantially higher priced. For collectors the 12Cilindri represents Ferrari's last regular production V12 without PHEV; this historical position strengthens the collector class positioning. For sellers this means a well-documented 12Cilindri with proven service history at Ferrari Maranello or recognised specialist, original original specification, Tailor Made confirmation (where applicable), Power Warranty transfer, and Ferrari Classiche certification attracts strong international interest.
12Cilindri Berlinetta (closed Coupé) or 12Cilindri Spider (open Convertible with electric retractable hardtop). Both have the same F140 HD V12 drivetrain. For collectors the Berlinetta is generally higher priced than the Spider due to weight saving and pure Coupé specification.
The 12Cilindri is available in regular colours (Rosso Corsa, Giallo Modena, Nero Daytona, Argento Nürburgring), 12Cilindri-specific colours, and Tailor Made specifications. For collectors Tailor Made specifications and 12Cilindri-specific colours are substantially value-adding.
The F140 HD V12 (naturally aspirated, 6.5 litres, 830 hp, redline 9,500 rpm) is Ferrari's newest V12 specification. For collectors, F140 HD condition, VANOS service, oil consumption status, timing chain condition, and diagnostic report are essential.
The 12Cilindri has unique two active rear spoilers (individual spoilers left and right of the rear window). The system optimises downforce and drag at different speeds. For collectors, active aerodynamics functionality, active spoilers status, and active aerodynamics diagnostics are essential.
The 12Cilindri has unique 12Cilindri interior specification with dual-cockpit design (inspired by Roma and SF90), digital instrument panel with 15.6-inch HD display, Frau leather upholstery, and 12Cilindri-specific interior panels. For collectors factory original interior elements are essential.
Ferrari Maranello-recognised service is essential. For 12Cilindri: F140 HD V12 service, F1 DCT mechatronics service, active aerodynamics diagnostics, Carbon Ceramic Brake status (standard), and Power Warranty status. For collectors Power Warranty transfer is generally value-adding.
For 12Cilindri collectors low mileage (under 8,000 for 2024 model year, under 4,000 for 2025-present) with full service history is substantially value-driving. Number of previous owners, market version, any Tailor Made specification, and geographic distribution are value-adding.
Note: These factors may influence buyer interest. Value depends on many factors.
12Cilindri Berlinetta (closed Coupé) or 12Cilindri Spider (open Convertible with electric retractable hardtop). Model year (2024 or 2025), chassis number, engine number, and market version. For collectors Tailor Made confirmation via factory order configuration is essential.
For 12Cilindri Ferrari Maranello-recognised documentation is substantially value-adding. Request Ferrari Classiche certification via Ferrari Maranello or via local Ferrari dealer. Confirms original specification, packages, and Tailor Made specification (where applicable).
All invoices from Ferrari Maranello or recognised specialist. For 12Cilindri: F140 HD V12 service (VANOS, oil consumption status, timing chain condition), F1 DCT mechatronics service, active aerodynamics diagnostics, Carbon Ceramic Brake status (standard), and Power Warranty status.
The F140 HD V12 (naturally aspirated, 830 hp, redline 9,500 rpm) is Ferrari's newest V12 specification. Document VANOS service, oil consumption status, timing chain condition, individual throttle bodies, and redline test.
The 12Cilindri has unique two active rear spoilers. Document active aerodynamics functionality, active spoilers up-and-down test, electric actuator condition, and diagnostic report from Ferrari-recognised specialist.
Paint colour with Ferrari factory code: regular colours (Rosso Corsa, Giallo Modena, Nero Daytona, Argento Nürburgring) or 12Cilindri-specific colours or Tailor Made specification. For Tailor Made document unique elements with Ferrari certification. Document dual-cockpit interior condition.
Number of previous owners, mileage, market version, model year (2024 or 2025), any Tailor Made specification, Power Warranty transfer, and geographic distribution. For collectors: low mileage (under 8,000 for 2024, under 4,000 for 2025) is substantially value-driving.
