In Bolognese dialect "Sián" means a flash of light. The Sián FKP 37 (2019-2020, 63 Coupés + 19 Roadsters) was the first hybrid Lamborghini ever built, and at the same time a tribute to Ferdinand Piëch (FKP, 1937-2019, former Volkswagen Group CEO and architect of the Lamborghini acquisition in 1998). Beneath the body sits the Aventador V12 producing 785 hp combined with a 48-volt mild-hybrid system contributing 34 hp via an ultracapacitor rather than a battery, a Lamborghini first, developed for charge rates that conventional batteries cannot match. Total output: 819 hp, the highest yet in a production Lamborghini at that point. The Sián ran parallel to the Aventador SVJ and is technically a prelude to the Revuelto that would follow in 2023 with full PHEV drive.
The Lamborghini Sián was unveiled in September 2019 at the IAA in Frankfurt as Lamborghini's first series-production hybrid. The full name Sián FKP 37 refers to Ferdinand Karl Piëch, the influential Volkswagen Group chairman who passed away in August 2019, and his birth year 1937. The word 'Sián' is a Bolognese dialect term for 'lightning', referring to the electric component of the hybrid drivetrain. The Sián uses the 6.5-litre naturally aspirated V12 from the Aventador SVJ, uprated to 785 hp at 8,500 rpm. Combined with a 48V electric motor (34 hp), total system output is 819 hp. The hybrid system is unique in the industry: in place of a conventional lithium-ion battery the Sián uses a supercapacitor integrated directly into the gearbox. The supercapacitor has three times the power density of a conventional battery, with substantially faster charge and discharge cycles, and is also lighter (only 34 kg for the entire hybrid installation). The system charges continuously during braking and can be fully recharged within seconds.
Production of the Sián FKP 37 coupé was limited to 63 cars, delivered in 2020. Every car was fully bespoke-configured via Lamborghini Ad Personam, meaning no two Siáns are identical. For collectors this is exceptional: every FKP 37 is literally unique in colour combination, leather specification, carbon packs, and specific accessories. The build plate states the production number (1 to 63) and the specific Ad Personam configuration. For collectors early chassis numbers and complete documentation are substantially value-driving.
In September 2020 Lamborghini unveiled the Sián Roadster, limited to only 19 cars. The Roadster retains the same 819 hp naturally aspirated V12 with supercapacitor hybrid, with removable carbon roof panels that can be stored in the front luggage compartment. Due to its lower production (19 versus 63 cars) and open specification, the Sián Roadster is generally priced higher than the FKP 37 coupé. Every Roadster, like the coupé, is uniquely configured via Lamborghini Ad Personam.
The Sián has consistently traded far above the original list price since launch, with specifications in seven-figure amounts. Its historical role (first hybrid Lamborghini, last naturally aspirated V12 hyper-special before the Revuelto), the limited production (82 cars total), and the unique Ad Personam specifications make it one of the most valuable modern Lamborghinis. For sellers this means a well-documented Sián with proven Lamborghini service history, original specification, confirmed Ad Personam configuration, and complete documentation attracts strong international interest.
