On 5 October 2016 Marco Mapelli drove a Huracán Performante to 6:52.01 around the Nürburgring Nordschleife, at the time the fastest production car lap ever, faster than the Porsche 918 Spyder. The secret was ALA (Aerodinamica Lamborghini Attiva), the first active aerodynamics system in a production Lamborghini. Variable flaps in the front bumper and rear wing can open independently to vary downforce or drag, depending on the car's position in a corner or on a straight. The package also included a further developed V10 producing 640 hp (30 hp more than LP610-4), a substantially lighter chassis (40 kg saved via Forged Composites, Lamborghini's own carbon-fibre technique) and sharpened steering. Production ran from 2017 to 2019; afterwards Lamborghini replaced the Performante with the Huracán STO. For collectors the Performante marks the moment Huracán culture matured.
The Lamborghini Huracán Performante was unveiled at the Geneva Motor Show in March 2017 as the hardcore specification of the Huracán line. The Performante followed the same philosophy as the Gallardo Superleggera (2007-2008 and 2010-2012): increase power, reduce weight, sharpen aerodynamics, and offer a stripped specification for track performance. The naturally aspirated 5.2-litre V10 (engine code CAM/CC) was uprated to 640 hp at 8,000 rpm, a 30 hp increase over the LP610-4 Huracán. The key technical feature however was ALA 1.0, Lamborghini's first active aerodynamics system.
Months before the official launch the Huracán Performante set a Nürburgring production-car record of 6:52.01 around the Nordschleife in October 2016. This was faster than the Porsche 918 Spyder (6:57), the previous record holder. The record was instrumental in the marketing positioning of the Performante and confirmed Lamborghini's serious ambition for track performance. The record was later beaten by various production cars, but for the Performante the Nürburgring result remains a historical marker.
The Performante introduced extensive use of Forged Composites, Lamborghini's proprietary carbon-injection technology developed in collaboration with Callaway Golf. Unlike traditional carbon fibre components, Forged Composites are pressed into moulds, enabling more complex geometries with consistent strength. The front spoiler, bonnet, side blades, rear wing, and interior elements are all made from Forged Composite. Total weight saving over the LP610-4 is 70 kg; the Performante's dry weight is 1,382 kg.
In 2018 Lamborghini introduced the Huracán Performante Spyder. The car retains the same 640 hp V10, ALA 1.0, and all forged Composite elements of the coupé, with an electric soft-top roof mechanism that folds away behind the cabin. For collectors the Performante Spyder is scarcer than the coupé and consistently higher priced in factory Ad Personam colour. Graphic stripe combinations (black-orange, black-silver, contrast stripe) are particularly sought after by collectors.
The Performante has seen a steadily rising valuation curve since launch. In 2025 the market for a well-documented Performante coupé in original specification sits substantially above the original list price, with factory Ad Personam specifications and Performante Spyders in a higher tier. For sellers this means a well-documented Performante with proven Lamborghini service history, original specification, and confirmed original specification attracts strong international interest. The buyer you want is a Lamborghini collector who values the naturally aspirated V10 Performante culture and knows the specific Performante specification.
The Huracán Performante was delivered as coupé and as Spyder (from 2018). The Spyder retains the same 640 hp V10, ALA 1.0 active aerodynamics, and Forged Composite elements, with an electric soft-top roof mechanism. For collectors the Spyder is generally scarcer than the coupé and can command a substantial premium in factory Ad Personam colour.
Aerodinamica Lamborghini Attiva (ALA) is a defining Performante feature: an active aerodynamics system that electronically manages airflow around the front spoiler and rear wing. The system switches within 500 ms for downforce or drag reduction depending on driving conditions. For collectors, confirmation that the ALA system is fully functional is essential.
For Performante collectors, factory Ad Personam colours and rare colours such as Verde Mantis, Arancio Anthaeus, Giallo Inti, Blu Eleos, and matte specifications strongly drive price. forged Composite packs exterior and interior, graphic stripe, and leather specification with embroidery substantially reinforce value.
The Performante introduced extensive use of Forged Composites (Lamborghini's proprietary carbon-injection technology) on the front spoiler, bonnet, side blades, rear wing, and interior elements. Total weight saving over the LP610-4 is 70 kg. Document all Forged Composite elements and confirm they are original.
Performante service is specialist work: the naturally aspirated 5.2-litre V10 requires regular inspection of head gaskets and the LDF gearbox. ALA 1.0 active aerodynamics requires diagnostics. Service at a Lamborghini dealer or recognised Lamborghini specialist is essential; major service every two years.
The Performante set a Nürburgring production-car record of 6:52.01 in 2016, at the time faster than the Porsche 918 Spyder. For collectors this record is an important selling context and historical marker. Confirmation that the car is sold in original original specification reinforces this status.
For Performante collectors low mileage (under 10,000) in original condition is generally strongly value-driving. Document number of previous owners, any trackday participation, factory build sheet, and complete service history. Proof of no damage history and unmodified original specification is essential for top valuation.
Note: These factors may influence buyer interest. Value depends on many factors.
Huracán Performante coupé (2017-2019) or Performante Spyder (2018-2019). Model year, chassis number, and engine number. For the Spyder: confirmation that the soft-top roof mechanism operates without faults and Forged Composite elements are present.
Strongly recommended for factory Ad Personam specifications and Performante Spyder examples. Apply via a Lamborghini dealer or Polo Storico in Sant'Agata Bolognese based on the chassis number. Confirms original specification, colour, forged Composite packs, and all options.
All invoices from a Lamborghini dealer or recognised Lamborghini specialist. The naturally aspirated 5.2-litre V10 and the LDF gearbox require specialist knowledge: head gaskets, clutch, cooling system, and transaxle oil. ALA 1.0 active aerodynamics requires diagnostics. Major service every two years.
Aerodinamica Lamborghini Attiva (ALA) is a defining Performante feature. Document diagnostic report from Lamborghini confirming the ALA system is fully functional, including the front spoiler motor flaps and the rear wing actuator. For collectors, proof of working ALA is essential.
Photos of all Forged Composite elements: front spoiler, bonnet, side blades, rear wing, and interior elements. Confirm all elements are original and not replaced with aftermarket components. For collectors original forged Composite is essential for top valuation.
Paint colour with factory code, Ad Personam confirmation if applicable, forged Composite packs exterior and interior, leather specification with embroidery, any graphic stripe. Original Ad Personam order configuration substantially raises value.
Number of previous owners, mileage, any trackday participation, geographic distribution. For collector-oriented sales low mileage in original condition is generally strongly value-driving; document proof of no damage history and unmodified original specification.
